News: Woman in Milam County killed by semi truck on US 79
MILAM COUNTY, TX- A woman was hit and killed by a semi on the shoulder of the road on US 79 on Tuesday, according to local media sources.
Near the community of Gause, 29-year-old Stephanie Louisa Torres-Herrera was with a 1997 Honda Civic and a 2015 Ford F-150 in an attempt to jumpstart the Honda on the side of the road. Torres-Herrera was searching for something in the back of the Honda when a 2014 Freightliner went off the road and struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
Reports say that the 52-year-old truck driver had limited visibility in the area while driving due to heavy fog. The truck driver and the driver of the other vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries.
