News update: Victim dead following Dec. 22 hit-and-run crash on I-35 frontage rd
AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have confirmed that a woman died of her injuries following a late-night hit-and-run pedestrian crash on the I-35 frontage road which occurred last week.
This is an update to a previous news story.
According to the Austin Police Department, the crash, which happened at around 10:30 p.m. on December 22 in the 5300 block of the I-35 N frontage road, ultimately claimed the life of a pedestrian victim.
The victim, who was described only as a white female, was struck by the driver of a dark grey 2019-2022 Nissan Altima who then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision and to search for the suspect vehicle and driver. The vehicle likely has sustained damage to the undercarriage and front parts.
The crash is Austin’s 109th fatal collision of the year.
