News update: Suspect ID’d in Monday’s fatal hit-and-run on Ben White Blvd

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Ben White Boulevard earlier this week, according to a release from the Austin Police Department.

This is an update to a previous news story.

The crash happened in the 700 block of the E Ben White Boulevard service road westbound, near Payload Pass at 9:42 p.m.

The driver of a white 2005 Toyota 4Runner SUV was headed westbound when he collided with a pedestrian who was reportedly crossing the street mid-block. The driver then fled the scene.

The pedestrian, identified only as a 45-year-old Hispanic male, died at the scene.

The driver was later located and taken into police custody for failure to stop and render aid after an accident. He was identified as 27-year-old Felton Deaunte Armstrong III.

The crash, which is Austin’s 91st fatal accident of the year, remains under investigation.
