News update: Police ID victims of fatal Jan. 11 crash on Mopac service rd
AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have released more information about the victims and circumstances of Tuesday’s fatal crash on the Mopac service road.
This is an update to a previous news story.
According to the Austin Police Department, the crash, which happened in the 13100 block of the N Mopac service road at around 10:30 a.m, claimed the life of 31-year-old Cesar Ramirez-Hernandez and a 3-year-old girl.
The crash occurred when a driver headed southbound on the service road went off the roadway, where they collided with a worker, identified as Ramirez-Hernandez. The vehicle then crashed into a cement ditch and overturned.
Ramirez-Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the back of the vehicle, the 3-year-old victim, also died at the scene.
The driver was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical injuries.
The accident, which is Austin’s 2nd fatal crash of the year, remains under investigation.
