News update: Police ID victim of fatal Sept. 7 crash on McNeil Dr

AUSTIN, TX – Police have identified the man killed in a head-on crash on McNeil Drive last week, according to a news release by the Austin Police Department.

The crash happened in the 7400 block of McNeil Dr at 9:18 p.m. on September 7, as the driver of a black Mazda was headed west in the eastbound lanes of traffic. The driver, identified as 57-year-old Richard Hunt Sloane, then crashed head-on into a Toyota.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews to revive him, Sloane died at the scene.

Two other people were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions remain unclear.

The crash, which is Austin’s 78th fatal collision of the year, remains under investigation.
