News update: Police ID victim of fatal pedestrian crash on Menchaca Rd

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian crash that happened on Menchaca Road early Saturday morning.

This is an update to a previous news story.

According to the Austin Police Department, the crash claimed the life of 61-year-old Timothy Christopher Eller.

The accident happened at 2:17 a.m. in the 4500 block of Menchaca Road, just south of Highway 290 and near Cimarron Trail and Redd Street. The driver of a northbound Toyota Tacoma collided with Eller, who was reportedly in the roadway.

Eller was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m. He would have turned 62 on Wednesday.

The driver remained at the scene after the collision and has cooperated with the authorities.

The crash, which is the 103rd fatal accident of the year for the city, remains under investigation at this time.
