News update: Police ID victim of fatal Dec. 29 crash on RM 2222

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have identified the woman who was killed in a collision with a dump truck on RM 2222 Road last month, according to the Austin Police Department.

This is an update to a previous news story.

The crash, which happened in the 5900 block of RM 2222 Road at around 7:53 a.m. on December 29, happened when a Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed into the back of a dump truck.

The impact sent the dump truck over the concrete median and into the lanes of oncoming traffic, where it struck a Ford Escape.

The driver of the Escape, 27-year-old Egypt Catai West, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:04 a.m.

The other two drivers were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for non-critical injuries.

The crash, which is Austin’s 111th fatal collision of 2021, remains under investigation at this time.
