News update: Police ID victim of fatal Dec. 23 pedestrian crash on N I-35
AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened on I-35 N last Thursday.
This is an update to a previous news story.
The crash occurred in the 13500 block of N I-35 northbound at 10:42 p.m., when a 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinder collided with a male pedestrian. The driver then fled the scene headed northbound.
The victim, who was identified as 24-year-old Uriel Veloz, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver and their vehicle, which may have damage to its undercarriage and front.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision, which is Austin’s 110th fatal crash of the year.
