News update: Police ID man killed in pedestrian crash on Ed Bluestein Blvd service rd

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have identified the man killed in a pedestrian crash on the Ed Bluestein Boulevard service road on Saturday night.

This is an update to a previous news story.

According to the Austin Police Department, the crash, which happened in the 2000 block of the northbound Ed Bluestein Blvd service road at 10:21 p.m., claimed the life of 51-year-old Carlos Villela.

Villela was reportedly in the roadway when he was struck by the driver of a Ford Raptor.

He died at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene following the collision and is reportedly cooperating with authorities.

The crash, which is Austin’s 5th fatal collision of the year, remains under investigation at this time.
