News update: Police ID man killed in June 13 crash on Ed Bluestein Blvd
AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have identified the man who died in a wrong-way crash on Ed Bluestein Boulevard on the morning of June 13.
This is an update to a previous news story.
According to the Austin Police Department, 50-year-old Rickey Delton Gonzales, driving a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck, was headed the wrong way in the 7200 block of Ed Bluestein Blvd when the crash happened. Around 10:11 a.m., his vehicle crashed head-on with a 2015 Audi.
Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Audi was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. A child riding in the same vehicle also suffered serious wounds in the crash.
The accident, which is Austin’s 51st fatal crash of the year, remains under investigation at this time.
