News: UPDATE: Driver arrested following fatal crash on Dessau Road near Parmer Lane
AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, the driver who caused a fatal crash on Dessau Road near Parmer Lane has been arrested.
The accident occurred on Monday at around 1:51 p.m. when 5 vehicles, including a Capital Metro bus collided. 36-year-old Octavia Antoinette Scales has been identified as the driver who caused the crash. A passenger in her vehicle, Latesha Washington, 46, passed away due to the incident.
Scales has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. She had not been drinking but admitted to smoking marijuana, blood pressure medicine, a nerve blocker, and a muscle relaxer. She also had prior offenses for driving while intoxicated and drug-related charges.
