News update: 14-year-old driver killed, 2 hurt in Nov 7 crash on Nuckols Crossing

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have released more details about a two-vehicle crash on Nuckols Crossing earlier this month, according to a press release from the Austin Police Department.

This is an update to a previous news story.

The crash happened in the 5500 block of Nuckols Crossing at around 7:06 a.m. November 7, as a 14-year-old boy was driving a gray Audi northbound in the southbound lanes, against the flow of traffic. There, he collided head-on with a green Chevrolet.

The driver of the Audi, who is not being identified here due to his age, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained severe, non-life-threatening wounds in the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A passenger in the Audi was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical injuries.

The teen driver would have turned 15 years old on November 14.

The accident, which is Austin’s 96th fatal traffic crash for the year, remains under investigation.
