News: TxDOT issues ice warning for motorists in Austin
AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) issued an ice advisory for motorists in the Austin area this morning via its official Twitter account.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Major roads & bridges have been treated but some ice is forming. Crews continue to treat as necessary. If you don't have to travel, stay home. If you must drive, slow down and stay alert. Visit https://t.co/FA8rsTh6VJ for conditions. #TxDOTwx #BeSafeDriveSmart pic.twitter.com/NHmWGsPgnb

While major roadways have been salted to prevent ice buildup, conditions are still dangerous. An icy overpass played a role in the 26-vehicle pileup that took place on TX 45 earlier this morning.
TxDOT advises anyone who does not need to travel to stay home until conditions improve.
