News: Possible truck accident stops traffic on I-35 flyover

AUSTIN, TX – Traffic on the southbound I-35 flyover was closed before Airport Boulevard/Exit 237 early this morning following a possible truck accident in the area.

A TxDOT Austin tweet about the incident mentioned only that the area was closed to traffic. However, a person claiming to be a nearby resident shared footage of a semi truck stopped on the interstate, surrounded by emergency response vehicles. That individual said they heard a loud crash, but could not get close enough to assess the situation.

TxDOT sent a follow-up tweet shortly before noon saying that the interstate had reopened, but provided no clarification on what had closed the roadway in the first place.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will update the blog if possible.
