News: Person hospitalized after apartment fire on Hunters Chase Dr

AUSTIN, TX – One person was taken to the hospital following an apartment fire on Hunters Chase Drive early Sunday morning, according to information from the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS.

The fire occurred in North Austin at 12343 Hunters Chase Drive, near Deer Falls Drive and Elkhorn Mountain Trail at around 2:20 a.m., and is believed to have been caused by improperly discarded smoking material.

One adult victim was taken to St. David’s North Austin Medical Center for the treatment of minor smoke inhalation injuries.

A second victim refused transport to the hospital after being evaluated at the scene.

A total of nine adults and seven children were displaced in the fire.

The blaze caused $400,000 worth of damage to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.
