News: One person killed after pedestrian hit by driver on Hwy 290

AUSTIN, TX – One person was killed in a car accident involving a pedestrian on Highway 290 this evening, according to details given by Austin-Travis County EMS.

The crash occurred in northeast Austin between 6856-7524 E U.S. 290 westbound at around 7:39 p.m., after a driver collided with a pedestrian.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drivers were told to expect extended traffic delays in the area.

The accident remains under investigation.
