News: Man struck, killed while repairing car on Mopac

AUSTIN, TX – A man was struck and killed on North Mopac overnight after his vehicle broke down on the side of the highway, Fox 7 Austin reports.

The incident occurred in the 1700 block of southbound N Mopac, just south of the US 183 interchange. Police say that the driver of a 2005 Nissan Quest had parked the vehicle in the right-hand shoulder and was working beneath it when it was hit on the driver’s side by a passing Kia Soul.

The Nissan’s driver died at the scene. No one else was injured.

The driver of the Kia stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. It is not clear whether any charges will be filed.
