News: Man killed after colliding with vehicle parked on I-35 shoulder

AUSTIN, TX – Austin Police have reported that a man was killed in an early-morning, two-vehicle collision on I-35 this weekend.

The crash occurred in the 8400 block of S I-35 southbound at about 2:45 a.m., when 42-year-old Alejandro Cosio-Resendez, operating a silver 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis, collided with a grey 2018 Nissan Kicks SUV that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

Cosio-Resendez died at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, who was not immediately identified, was not hurt.

The crash, which remains under investigation, is Austin’s 26th fatal collision of the year.
