News: Elderly woman dead after car crashes into tree on Mesa Dr

AUSTIN, TX – An elderly woman is dead after her vehicle collided with a tree on Mesa Drive on Thursday afternoon, according to information from the Austin Police Department.

The crash happened in the 8100 block of Mesa Dr at 3:01 p.m., when the 82-year-old driver of a 2016 Subaru Forester, identified as Margaret A. Brubeck, veered off the side of the road. Her vehicle then crashed into a tree.

Brubeck was taken to the hospital with injuries that were thought to be stable, if severe. However, at 9:19 a.m. Friday, she succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead.

The accident, which is Austin’s 52nd fatal crash of the year, remains under investigation.
