News: Car vs. train collision in Bastrop sends woman to hospital
BASTROP, TX – A woman required air transport to Dell Seton Medical Center when her car collided with a train on the north side of Bastrop on Friday, the Austin American-Statesman reports.
The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on January 29, when the 60-year-old woman tried to drive around the railroad crossing arms at the intersection of Wilson and Hawthorn Streets. She was seriously injured in the collision, and was flown to Dell Seton in Austin for emergency medical treatment.
Photographs of the scene showed a red Jeep lying on its side next to a lengthy freight train with Union Pacific livery.
Investigations were ongoing as of that evening. The unidentified woman’s current condition is unknown.
