News: ATCEMS continues to respond to record calls

AUSTIN, TX – Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services are continuing to respond to a record-setting number of calls, they say.

EMS responded to 1,323 calls yesterday, after responding to 1,435 on Monday. This includes 31 traffic accidents with injuries (including five rollovers), 69 cases of exposure, and 38 carbon monoxide poisonings — nearly triple the number of carbon monoxide cases they responded to on Monday.

Authorities urged Austinites to continue to stay indoors, stay warm, and avoid unnecessary travel. Cold weather and icy storms—as well as attendant power outages—are expected to continue into Wednesday.
