News: 47-year-old victim of recent Cameron Rd hit-and-run ID’d

AUSTIN, TX – The victim of last week’s fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Cameron Road has been identified by the Austin Police Department.

This is an update to a previous report.

On March 4 at 9:41 p.m., 46-year-old Cynthia Maria Leonard was struck by the driver of a white 2015 Ford Fiesta in the 7200 block of Cameron Road, near E St. Johns Avenue.

Leonard was discovered dead in the roadway by authorities.

Authorities did not release any possible information about the driver, who fled the scene after the collision.

Leonard would have turned 47 on Monday.  

Austin Police continue to investigate the accident, and those with any information on the crash are asked to contact the Crime Stoppers tip line at 512-472-8477. Information leading an arrest may be rewarded with up to $1,000.

The crash is Austin’s 20th fatal accident of 2021.
