News: 4 displaced after power strip sparks apartment fire in N Austin

AUSTIN, TX – Four people were displaced following an electrical fire in an apartment in North Austin tonight, according to the Austin Fire Department.

The incident happened at 1630 Rutland Drive, when a power strip experienced an electrical failure and sparked a fire in a bedroom.

The fire was contained to the bedroom, and no injuries were reported in the blaze.

Four people were displaced as a result, and the structure sustained $25,000 worth of damage. The contents of the bedroom, worth about $10,000, were also destroyed.
