News: 2 people injured in crash after driver runs red light on SH-71

AUSTIN, TX – Two people were injured, one of them seriously so, after a driver ran a stoplight near State Highway 71 this weekend, according to information from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred on SH-71, between I-35 and Industrial Drive at 9:43 a.m. Sunday, when the 72-year-old driver of a blue 1997 Honda ran a traffic light.

She then crashed into the right front quarter of a white 2017 Dodge being driven by a 35-year-old woman.

The at-fault driver sustained severe injuries in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge also suffered possible wounds.

Her 31-year-old female passenger was not hurt in the accident.
